The Role

As the Head of Product Design at Stori, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the design strategy for forthcoming deposit products. You will also oversee the design efforts for our Super App, which features an evolving suite of services aimed at diversifying our offerings and enhancing customer experiences. Your primary objective is to lead and inspire a talented team of designers, fostering innovation and ensuring cohesive, user-centric design across all product lines. Your strategic vision and hands-on approach will be crucial in translating business goals into intuitive, cutting-edge designs that elevate our products' usability and desirability.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Strategic Design Leadership: Develop and execute the design vision, strategy, and roadmap for deposit products and the Super App aligned with business objectives. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of multidisciplinary designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
  • Product Design Direction: Oversee end-to-end product design, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring a seamless user experience and visual coherence across all platforms. Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and business goals into compelling design solutions.
  • Innovation and Ideation: Drive design thinking processes, encouraging ideation and innovation within the team to explore new features, functionalities, and design concepts. Conduct user research, analyze user feedback, and stay abreast of industry trends to inform design decisions and iterate on existing products.
  • Design System and Standards: Establish and maintain a robust Design System that ensures consistency, scalability, and efficiency in design workflows for all products. Set and uphold high design standards, advocating for best practices, and continually refining design processes to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Research and Operations, to align design initiatives with overall business strategies and timelines. Communicate design concepts, rationale, and strategies effectively to stakeholders at all levels, fostering buy-in and alignment.
  • This role demands an experienced leader who can drive strategic design initiatives, lead diverse product portfolios, and champion user-centric design practices across the organization. The Head of Product Design will be instrumental in shaping the future of our products, elevating our brand, and delivering exceptional user experiences.

What we are looking for

The 400 million underbanked Latam population is very diverse. Many are not used to advanced digital products, and many distrust them. Yet they generally spend a lot more time on their mobile phone each day than Americans. To achieve our mission, we need our mobile app to provide the most smooth, accessible, trust-inspiring, and engaging experience to our users. We aspire to build our UX to be as good as Apple, Tiktok or Airbnb.

The HoD will have extensive experience leading UX-focused teams for top companies or startups known for outstanding mobile app user experience. He or she will be in charge of developing deep empathy with our target users, understanding company priorities, and guide our experience squads in applying market-leading practices to onboard, engage, cross-sell and retain users.

  • Product Design design experience at a top company or startup known for outstanding mobile-app based user experience.
  • o Preferable to have hands on experience of launching or redesigning the entire mobile app or a significant portion of the app
  • o Have experience utilizing and shaping design systems
  • Be a missionary and self-starter
  • Domain strengths in user research, UX, UI and visual design.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with Product Managers, Front-end engineers, research and UX writers
  • Experience leading user experience designers in high-growth digital products
  • Deeply familiar with UX foundations and best practices, have a strong POV on driving design quality and your own proven methods.
  • Have a passion for continuous learning and keep an eye on industry trends
  • Language: Spanish and English required. Portuguese is a bonus but not required.
