We are seeking a Controller, Director of Finance to partner directly with the CEO to drive financial discipline, operational rigor, and strategic clarity as we scale.
The RoleThis is a highly hands-on leadership role that combines Controller ownership with FP&A and strategic finance exposure. You will own the financial backbone of the company, including accounting operations, forecasting, cash management, and post-acquisition integration.
We are building an AI-first finance function. We expect this leader to challenge traditional workflows and rebuild them using modern tools and automation.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to step into a future CFO track while staying close to the details.
Key ResponsibilitiesController & Accounting Operations (Primary Focus)- Own the full accounting function and monthly close
- Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness
- Establish strong internal controls and financial processes
- Manage external auditors, tax, and compliance
- Improve financial systems and reporting infrastructure
- Own cash management and short-term liquidity planning
- Own billing accuracy and invoicing processes across all products
- Drive accounts receivable and collections performance
- Reduce DSO and improve cash conversion cycle
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success to improve collections outcomes
- Implement clear reporting on aging, renewals, and payment risk
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Maintain integrated financial model (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet)
- Drive visibility into ARR, NDR, CAC, LTV, gross margin, burn, and runway
- Partner with Sales on pipeline and revenue forecasting
- Build KPI dashboards and improve operating discipline
- Lead financial integration of acquisitions (systems, reporting, processes)
- Align revenue recognition, billing, and reporting across entities
- Identify cost synergies and operational efficiencies
- Build unified financial reporting across the combined company
- Leverage AI tools to automate reporting, forecasting, and financial workflows
- Evaluate and implement modern finance stack (ERP, billing, FP&A, analytics)
- Use AI to improve forecasting accuracy, anomaly detection, and collections prioritization
- Drive efficiency by reducing manual processes and increasing real-time visibility
- Partner with Product and Data teams to align financial and operational data models
- Partner directly with CEO on financial planning and key business decisions
- Support board reporting, investor materials, and financing processes
- Build scenario models across growth, hiring, and investment priorities
- Support M&A evaluation and financial diligence
- 5–7 years of finance experience with exposure to both accounting (controller) and FP&A
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial operations
- Fluency in SaaS metrics (ARR, retention, CAC, burn, runway)
- Experience improving AR, collections, and cash flow discipline
- Experience with modern finance tools and interest in leveraging AI in finance workflows
- Experience supporting audits, board reporting, or financing processes a plus
- SF Bay Area based preferred
- Highly detail-oriented operator who takes ownership end-to-end
