HCP Terraform is one of the primary products of HashiCorp’s infrastructure suite, designed to unify and automate infrastructure provisioning and management across a wide variety of cloud and on-premise environments. The HCP Terraform CLI product enables seamless workflows for Terraform users by providing commercial-grade enhancements to the Terraform Community Edition, creating a unique value proposition for customers looking to scale their infrastructure management.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead and shape the future of HCP Terraform CLI workflows. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and enhance the HCP Terraform CLI workflow to build upon Terraform language constructs and CLI workflows. This role will work closely with the Terraform team, focusing on improving HCP Terraform’s Workspaces workflow, and delivering a world-class experience for users managing infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Define and execute the product strategy for HCP Terraform CLI, focusing on differentiating the commercial workflows from the open-source Community Edition.
    • Collaborate with the Terraform team to ensure alignment on key CLI and workflow features, leveraging the power of Terraform while enhancing the value of HCP Terraform’s commercial offering.
  • Community Edition to Commercial Differentiation:
    • Lead the effort to build advanced features and workflows in HCP Terraform that differentiate it from the Terraform Community Edition, offering additional value to enterprise customers.
    • Focus on improving the core HCP Terraform Workspaces workflow, ensuring it provides a seamless, scalable, and secure experience for teams managing infrastructure.
  • Customer-Centric Product Development:
    • Engage with users of both Terraform Community Edition and HCP Terraform to understand their workflows, pain points, and needs for commercial enhancements.
    • Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to inform product decisions, ensuring that HCP Terraform CLI delivers value beyond the open-source offering.
  • Roadmap Prioritization and Delivery:
    • Own and manage the product roadmap for HCP Terraform CLI, prioritizing features that enhance Workspaces and deliver a superior user experience.
    • Develop and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and collaborate with engineering to ensure timely and high-quality feature releases.
  • Collaboration with Terraform Language/CLI Team:
    • Partner closely with the Terraform team to align on Language and CLI feature development and ensure that the commercial and open-source workflows complement each other while focused on differentiated HCP Terraform features.
    • Drive discussions and decision-making around workflow improvements, ensuring that HCP Terraform CLI meets the needs of both enterprise customers and the broader Terraform community.
  • Go-to-Market Support:
    • Collaborate with the marketing, sales, and support teams to highlight the unique value proposition of HCP Terraform CLI and Workspaces for enterprise users.
    • Create compelling product messaging and education materials to help customers understand the benefits of the HCP Terraform CLI over the Community Edition.

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of product management experience with developer tools, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud infrastructure products.
  • Familiarity with Developer Tools and Cloud providers (such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), with experience working on infrastructure provisioning workflows.
  • Experience with commercializing developer facing products
  • Strong technical acumen with a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and CLI workflows.
