The IBM Technology Expert Labs organization is looking for IBM z/OS with Security (include vault on Z) an Delivery Consultant with expertise in IBM mainframe OS,Mainframe Security,Harshicrop, middleware and language technology and products to lead and deliver pre-sales and post-sales client engagements that enable the adoption of IBM zSystems
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated a successful history of implementing vault on z/os and LinuxOne to IBM mainframe applications migration engagements, be familiar with application migration methods, can independently assess application environments, evaluate gaps between Fujitsu mainframe and IBM Z andcreate application migration solution recommendations for client environments while displaying excellent collaboration and communication with Clients, Sellers, Business Partners and Colleagues by delivering reports to clients.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering IBM IBM z/OS with Security (include vault on Z) solution design, architecture, and implementation of application migration solutions which may include:
· Install and configure Vault on IBM Z platforms, ensuring integration with RACF
and other subsystems.
· Define and maintain authentication methods (RACF, LDAP, Kerberos)
to control access to secrets.
· Create and manage Vault policies and roles to enforce least‑privilege access.
Rotate credentials, certificates, and API keys in accordance
with enterprise security standards.
· Monitor Vault health, performance, and audit logs, escalating issues
to IBM support when required.
· Coordinate with system programmers to ensure Vault high availability and
disaster recovery across sysplex LPARs.
· Support application teams in consuming secrets via Vault APIs
and automating deployments.
· Review audit trails and compliance reports to verify adherence
to regulatory requirements (PCI DSS, GDPR, SOX).
· Collaborate with operations teams during upgrades, applying PTFs and
validating environment changes.
· Understanding clients' main challenges and developing solutions that helps them reach
true business value by working thru the phases of design, development integration,
implementation, migration, and product support with a sense of urgency
This role requires a strong knowledge of the IBM Systems Z hardware and software ecosystem,
focusing on IBM Z application environment skills. Strong z/OS, Mainframe security ,vault on
z/OS,Linux ONE, middleware
You will work with customers and IBM Sales and Business Partners to position, scope, and delivery of competitive mainframe platform migration solution offering on the IBM Z® platform,and LinuxONE. Candidates must possess a
strong background in executive consulting or technical sales and knowledge of application
migration solutions.
· Strong knowledge of z/OS security subsystems (RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret).
· Hands‑on experience with HashiCorp Vault (installation, configuration, policy management).
· Knowledge of secrets engines (KV, PKI, DB) and credential rotation.
· Ability to integrate Vault with IBM Z workloads and subsystems (CICS, DB2, IMS).
· Experience managing LPARs in a sysplex and configuring high availability/disaster recovery.
· Applying PTFs and maintenance updates in IBM Z environments.
· Familiarity with in‑house exits or customizations and their impact on upgrades.
· Experience consuming secrets via Vault APIs in application pipelines.
· Knowledge of automation tools and CI/CD integration with Vault.
· Understanding of least‑privilege access and secure deployment practices. Ability to work with auditors to demonstrate secure secrets management.
· Experience reviewing audit trails and compliance reports (PCI DSS, GDPR, SOX)
· Customer or executive facing communications, requirements analysis, documentation, and report presentations.
· Experience monitoring Vault health and performance in production.
· Incident management skills, including root cause analysis for P1 incidents with IBM support.
· Ability to coordinate upgrades and execute test cases in production environments.·
· Possess deep expertise in IBM Z security subsystems (RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret) and demonstrate the ability to define protected IDs and manage started tasks securely.
· Have hands‑on experience administering HashiCorp Vault, including installation, configuration, policy management, and integration with IBM Z workloads such as CICS, DB2, and IMS.
· Be capable of managing sysplex environments, JES2/JES3 subsystems, and configuring LPAR connectivity, controllers, and trackers for high availability and disaster recovery
· Support application teams by enabling secure consumption of secrets via Vault APIs, automating deployments, and enforcing least‑privilege access principles.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Dynamic team player who is comfortable working in a small, but rapidly evolving environment.
