Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at IBM, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating modern cloud-native platforms that enable development teams to deliver software faster, more securely, and at scale. You will work closely with clients and internal engineering teams to implement best-in-class DevOps practices and drive automation across the entire software delivery lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Architecting and operating container platforms using Kubernetes and OpenShift in hybrid and cloud environments.
• Designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines to support scalable and secure software delivery.
• Driving infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Establishing DevOps best practices, including automated testing, security integration (DevSecOps), and continuous delivery.
• Leading platform reliability and observability initiatives, implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Collaborating with development, security, and operations teams to improve platform performance, scalability, and resilience.
• Acting as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for DevOps practices within project teams.
• Staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, helping shape platform engineering and DevOps strategies for clients.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

· Several years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or SRE in enterprise environments

· Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and container-based architectures

· Deep expertise in CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitLab, GitHub, Tekton, Jenkins)

· Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)

· Solid understanding of Linux systems (Red Hat), networking, and security concepts

· Experience implementing observability solutions (monitoring, logging, tracing)

· Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum / SAFe)

· Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)

· Swiss or EU nationality, or a valid Swiss work permit

Preferred technical and professional experience

· Experience with HashiCorp Vault or secrets management solutions

· Experience with DevSecOps practices and security automation

· Experience designing enterprise DevOps platforms or internal developer platforms (IDP)

· Experience with GitOps practices and tools
