Lime is hiring a Hardware Engineering Manager to join our team in Kunshan, China. We are seeking a creative, innovative, and knowledgeable engineering manager to join our dynamic Hardware Design team. In this role, you will manage a team of electrical and mechanical engineers that specify, develop, qualify, and continuously improve our fleet of e-bikes and e-scooters. This is an exciting opportunity for a globally-minded engineering manager to make an impact building vehicles for a world where transportation is shared, affordable, and carbon-free.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and inspire a high-performance hardware engineering team that develops the industry’s best hardware - now and in the future. This team consists of enthusiastic mechanical and electrical engineers that are currently developing our future vehicles.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to shape and influence future roadmaps, product architectures, technology investments, partnerships, and product plans.
  • Engage in and support all aspects of the product life cycle management, including concept, development, integration, qualification, manufacturing, delivery, acceptance, field performance, and end-of life.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify vehicle features, functions, and requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight and management of ODM and JDM supplier relationships and projects.
  • Create initial prototypes and concept models of new vehicle modules with an eye towards practicality and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies relevant to our industry and implement them when feasible. Continue to self-educate with new technologies.
  • Bring best in class tools and processes to Lime’s development processes including mCAD, structural simulation, mold flow analysis, 3D tolerance analysis, DFM, eCAD, schematic capture, circuit simulation, SIPI, PCB layout, PCB fab, SMT, ICT, conducted and OTA RF testing, system validation, and qualification.

About You:

  • You are a curious, hands-on hardware manager that likes to prototype and test your ideas.
  • You are a team player, eager to jump in and contribute to the team’s goals.
  • You are able to successfully manage projects with nebulous goals and direction.
  • You are an empathetic manager who enables members of your team to perform at their best.
  • You have a deep understanding of the process by which systems are optimized for cost, performance, and hardware/firmware development efficiency.
  • You have experience developing connected products (bluetooth, wifi, GPS, LTE, UWB, NFC)
  • You are a skilled collaborator who aligns competing goals and enables data driven decisions.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • BSEE, BSME or similar with 10+ years of experience in hardware development
  • Interest and,or experience in transportation/small vehicle design
  • Experience with vehicle / motor control systems.
  • Experience developing high volume plastic and metal components with tight tolerances and strict cosmetic standards
  • Experience developing electro-mechanical systems utilizing motors, gears, control electronics, and integrated sensors.
  • Experience developing battery powered, outdoor systems that demonstrate best in class safety
