Stori’s Personal Loans product is one of the company’s fastest-growing lines, and we’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead it. You’ll manage a team of 6 engineers distributed across Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina, and partner directly with the Heads of Product, Design, and Business Analytics. The team is small, collaborative, and high-impact, operating with the ownership culture of a startup within a scaling FinTech. There is a real opportunity here to shape not just what gets built, but how the team works: setting the processes and AI-first practices that will help a fast-growing team ship quickly, scale safely, and realize the full benefits of AI adoption. The role reports to the Senior Engineering Director and is based in Mexico City.

  • Engineering management: Proven experience leading engineering teams, developing engineers’ careers, and building high-performing teams through process and people development.

  • Technical credibility: Ability to guide architecture decisions, review complex technical designs, and prototype using AI tools. Professional experience with Golang or Python is required.

  • AI-first habits: A daily, personal practice of using AI tools in your own work, plus a demonstrated track record of setting team-wide standards and actively supporting engineers in adopting AI in their workflows.

  • Cross-functional communication: Strong written and verbal skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to work fluidly with Product, Design, and Analytics stakeholders and represent engineering clearly in business conversations.

  • LATAM team experience: Professional experience managing or collaborating with engineering teams distributed across Latin America, with working knowledge of the cultural and operational dynamics involved.

  • Cloud and infrastructure: Working knowledge of AWS-based infrastructure and backend services, applied in a professional engineering setting.

  • Business orientation: Genuine interest in understanding how business and product objectives shape engineering priorities, and comfort engaging in those conversations with non-engineering stakeholders.

  • Mexico City based: Located in or willing to relocate to Mexico City.

  • Team leadership: Lead, develop, and retain a team of 6 engineers distributed across Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina. Own their performance, career growth, and day-to-day effectiveness.

  • Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate directly with the Heads of Product, Design, and Business Analytics to translate business goals into a clear technical roadmap and prioritized execution.

  • Technical direction: Drive architectural decisions and quality standards across the team’s backend services, frontend mini-programs, and WhatsApp integrations. Review designs, unblock engineers, and prototype with AI tools when the team needs it.

  • Process improvement: Establish and continuously improve engineering processes that increase the team’s velocity, consistency, and reliability as the product scales.

  • AI-first culture: Set AI tooling standards, define adoption practices, and actively support every engineer in building productive AI habits into their daily work.

  • Engineering voice: Represent engineering in cross-functional conversations, balancing speed and technical health in a fast-growing product environment.
